Veronica Roth's trilogy. Following on from the events of 'Insurgent' (2015),
Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) venture beyond the wall
surrounding Chicago for the first time. After breaching the city's boundary, the
pair are taken to the Bureau of Genetic Welfare where they finally discover the
origins of their enclosed society.
When they learn the truth about the experiment in Chicago, Tris and Four are
forced to decide where their true allegiance lies as the Bureau, led by David
(Jeff Daniels), threatens to destroy their home and wipe out everyone they know.
Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forest Whitaker star in this sci-fi drama
directed by Denis Villeneuve. After mysterious alien spacecraft land on Earth,
American linguistics professor Dr Louise Banks (Adams) finds herself working
with the army to decode the aliens' communications. Under the command of Colonel
Weber (Whitaker), Louise and military scientist Ian Donnelly (Renner) try to
learn more about the aliens' language so they can communicate with them and
discover why they have come to Earth, before someone else across the globe
decides to attack first.
But with the CIA and global leaders monitoring their interactions, will they
be able to make their breakthrough without any unwanted interference? The film
was nominated for nine BAFTAs, including Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay and

Sci-fi mystery drama starring Haley Joel Osment. On his way to present

Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as Katniss Everdeen in the third instalment
of the sci-fi film series based on the novels by Suzanne Collins. In the
aftermath of the 75th Hunger Games, Katniss finds herself in the underground
District 13, struggling to adjust to her new life and role as the 'Mockingjay'
in the rebellion against the Capitol and tyrannical ruler President Snow (Donald
Sutherland). Meanwhile, her friend and fellow Games victor Peeta Mellark (Josh
Hutcherson) is in the hands of the Capitol, where he is tortured and
Katniss soon realises that to save the ones she loves she will have to join
the revolt, led by President Coin (Julianne Moore), and become a symbol of hope
for the rebels. With help from her friends and allies, including Gale Hawthorne
(Liam Hemsworth), Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), Effie Trinket (Elizabeth
Banks) and Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Katniss sets out to
bring down the Capitol and President Snow once and for all.
Games: Mockingjay Part 2

Two decades after the alien attack on planet Earth, the world has pooled
together to form Earth Space Defence (ESD), a global organisation designed to

technology that was salvaged from the previous attack.
Before their defeat, however, the aliens sent a distress signal back to their
planet asking for assistance in the form of a more powerful army. When the
aliens receive the message they prepare for attack, and this time they are
taking no chances.

Academy Award-winner Hans Zimmer returns to partner Nolan and score the film.

on Earth but the planet was, in fact, seeded by the royal House of Abrasax, the
most powerful alien dynasty, 100,000 years ago. After their mother dies, the
Abrasax children and heirs to Earth - Balem (Redmayne), Kalique (Tuppence
Middleton) and Titus (Douglas Booth) - compete for their inheritance.
When Balem, who currently controls the planet, discovers that Earth-born
cleaner Jupiter Jones (Kunis) is also an heir he arranges for her to be killed.
With the help of interplanetary warrior Caine Wise (Tatum), Jupiter must face
Balem as he plans to harvest the Earth. Can she rise to the challenge? The cast

Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal and Rebecca Ferguson star in this sci-fi
thriller directed by Daniel Espinosa. When a crew of astronauts and scientists
set out on a journey to the International Space Station, their task is to study
a sample of matter taken from Mars and determine whether it can provide proof of
extraterrestrial life. When the matter begins to display intelligence far beyond
its suspected capabilities however, the crew realise that they are in for a
bumpy ride if they want to return home.

Matt Damon stars in this award-winning sci-fi comedy drama directed by Ridley
Scott. During a mission to Mars, a crew of NASA astronauts are caught in a storm
that leaves Mark Watney (Damon) missing and presumed dead. As the rest of the
crew return to Earth, Watney awakens to find himself surrounded by the desolate
landscape of the red planet.
With no way to communicate the news of his survival back to Earth, Watney
must figure out a way to prolong his life expectancy until the next NASA mission
visits the planet in approximately four years. The all-star cast includes
Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Jessica Chastain and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film won
Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy and Best Actor -
Musical Or Comedy (Damon) and was nominated for seven Academy Awards including
Best Picture, Best Visual Effects and Best Actor (Damon).
Dark sci-fi feature from the Spierig brothers. A nameless time travelling agent
(Ethan Hawke), hunts down future would-be killers to prevent their crimes from
ever taking place. But in his last mission, the agent must try and find the one
criminal who has always eluded him through the depths of time, a man known as
The Fizzle Bomber.
Meanwhile, before his retirement, his employer (Noah Taylor) also instructs
him to train a new female recruit, The Unmarried Mother (Sarah Snook), who is
now living as a man. As the traveller pursues the criminal and tries to prevent
his planned attack of New York, he finds out some startling revelations about
his own mysterious background.
Sci-fi thriller written and directed by William Eubank. Three friends have their
road trip cut short when they receive mysterious communications from a hacker
known as NOMAD who claims to be responsible for their near expulsion from M.I.T.
Nic (Brenton Thwaites), Hayley (Olivia Cooke) and Jonah (Beau Knapp) pursue the
hacker's signal and track him down to an old abandoned house near the Arizona
Once there however, the trio are unable to find anything and all
unexplainably blackout, only to wake up in a seemingly underground research
facility. Once inside, the friends must fight to find where the others are being
kept and solve the reason behind their capture whilst trying to find a way out
of their prison.
Star Trek Beyond
Justin Lin directs this second sequel to the 2009 Academy Award-winning
spin-off of the classic 1960s sci-fi adventure series. After overcoming doubts
about his continued role in Starfleet, Captain James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) leads
the crew of the USS Enterprise as they continue to explore the darkest reaches
of space as part of their five-year mission.
Upon arriving for a routine stop at a remote Federation planet, the
Enterprise is subjected to a devastating surprise attack by swarms of mysterious
alien vessels. Overrun and with all systems failing, the crew have no option but
to abandon ship, leaving them stranded on the surface with limited supplies and
no way of sending for help. After coming across alien warrior Jaylah (Sofia
Boutella), Kirk soon discovers that the merciless Krall (Idris Elba) is behind
the attack and is readying an army to destroy Starfleet once and for all.
Now facing a desperate battle to survive, Kirk must reunite his crew and find
a way of defeating their frenzied new enemies before it's too late. The cast
also includes Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg and Anton Yelchin.
Star Wars 7 The Force Awakens (DVD or
J.J. Abrams directs this seventh instalment of the epic sci-fi film series in
which Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill reprise their roles from the
original trilogy. Set 30 years after 'Return of the Jedi' (1983), the film
follows Han Solo (Ford), Princess Leia (Fisher) and new characters scavenger Rey
(Daisy Ridley), former stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega) and X-wing pilot Poe
Dameron (Oscar Isaac) as they face powerful forces from the dark side in the
form of First Order commander Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and his master Supreme
Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis).
The film was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Original Score
(John Williams), Best Visual Effects and Best Editing.
Star Wars 8 Rogue One
Gareth Edwards directs this sci-fi adventure set in the 'Star Wars' universe,
featuring a stand-alone story written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy. After
being recruited by Rebel Alliance leader Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly), former
criminal Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) is tasked with stealing the plans for the
Death Star so that the weapon can be destroyed before it causes damage to the
galaxy. Teaming up with Rebel Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), master
swordsman Chirrut Imwe (Donnie Yen) and a band of hardy freedom fighters, Jyn
takes on the might of the Empire in a challenge tougher than anything she could

Brad Bird directs this Disney sci-fi action feature starring George Clooney
and Britt Robertson. After teenager Casey Newton (Robertson) comes across a pin
that transports her to an alternate world when she touches it she seeks out
former prodigy and inventor Frank Walker (Clooney), hoping he can shed some
light on her discovery. Now considered a fugitive, Casey finds herself on the
run and, along with Frank, journeys to the other dimension known as Tomorrowland
where she realises she may be the key to saving the world...
The film also stars Hugh Laurie, Kathryn Hahn, Judy Greer and Tim McGraw.
Valerian And The City of A Thousand Planets
Luc Besson writes and directs this French action sci-fi based on Pierre
Christin's sci-fi comic series 'Valérian and Laureline'. Tasked with
maintaining peace throughout the universe, special government operatives
Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are sent by their
commander Arün Filitt (Clive Owen) to the spectacular city of Alpha, an
ever-expanding metropolis home to millions of inhabitants from all over the
galaxy. With an unseen villainous force causing an uprising which could put the
future of the city in danger, Valerian and Laureline must put their personal
issues to one side and work together to put a stop to the trouble before it's

James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe star in this sci-fi horror based on the
contemporary adaptations of the 1818 novel by Mary Shelley. Told from the
perspective of Igor Strausman (Radcliffe), young apprentice of the brilliant but
troubled scientist Victor Frankenstein (McAvoy), the story follows the journey
the pair take as they embark on one of the greatest scientific experiments ever
known: creating life out of death.
War For The Planet of The Apes
Matt Reeves directs this second sequel in the 'Planet of the Apes' franchise
starring Woody Harrelson and Andy Serkis. Following on from the events of 'Dawn
of the Planet of the Apes' (2014), ape Caesar (Serkis) finds himself and his
kind trapped in a war with the humans led by Colonel McCullogh (Harrelson).
Although adamant that apes are not savages, when a large number lose their lives
at the hands of the humans, Caesar channels his dark side and vows to get
revenge for every ape life lost.
The cast includes Steve Zahn as Bad Ape, Judy Greer as Caesar's wife Cornelia
and Gabriel Chavarria as top human soldier Preacher.
Bryan Singer returns to direct this latest instalment of the 'X-Men'
franchise based on the Marvel Comics characters. En Sabah Nur (Oscar Isaac),
known as Apocalypse, has been worshipped as the first and most powerful mutant
to have ever lived. When he is awakened after several thousands of years at
rest, Apocalypse sees what the modern world has become and sets about correcting
and cleansing humanity to create a better world for mutants to live in,
recruiting Magneto (Michael Fassbender) onto his team.
Hearing about the imminent attack, Professor X (James McAvoy) teams up with
Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) to try to save humanity.
