Hire rates vary with the age of the title : all
cases are marked
with the charge for that particular item. New release titles are
normally either £2.00 , £2.50 or £3.00 per night. Once films are approximately
6/8 weeks old we reduce the rate to either £1.00 or £2.00 for 3 nights
hire, and most titles if more than 6 months old , are reduced to £1.00 or
£2.00 for 5 nights hire.

These extended hire rates are especially useful for members who do not
always come into Downham Market every day, and are also particularly useful
over the weekends , allowing a film rented on Saturday to be kept until
Tuesday if a 3 day hire, or Thursday for the 5 night ones, giving flexibility
to your choice of entertainment viewing should the weather or unexpected
events change your original plans.

Sleuth (1972)
Wealthy mystery novelist Andrew Wyke (Laurence Olivier) invites
lower-class hairdresser Milo Tindle (Michael Caine) to his elegant English

script by playwright Anthony Shaffer (Frenzy, The Wicker Man) and as the
final film of legendary director Joseph L. Mankiewicz (All About Eve). Now

Sleuth
This savvy remake promises just as many twists and pitch-perfect
performances as the 1972 film. Since the original SLEUTH still shocks,
some might question director Kenneth Branagh's desire to remake the
classic, but Michael Caine doesn't reprise his role from the first film.
Instead, he stars as the betrayed husband (first played by Lawrence
Olivier), while Jude Law plays Caine's original role of the rogue who
stole his wife away.
